I was browsing expired domains thinking about setting up an amazon affiliate site. I found a 10 year old pr 2 domain that expired so I decided to purchase it. I had coupons so I ended up getting it for $3. Do you guys think I made a good decision? It's good domain too that has my keyword. I'm thinking about building up a genuine site and directing people to a sales page. And possibly include links to products in some of the articles. Would this work? It's a semi seasonal thing too, it gets a decent amount of searches but it skyrockets during a certain season.

You stole a gem, especially if the domain name is an action term. You monetize it by answering this question, and providing it.

What is the intent of the searcher when they use this term?

I don't think he got "his" keyword, I think he got "a" keyword. Seasonal, maybe Christmas. He'll have to build a whole site and backlink structure around it.

@OP: Does the domain still have backlinks? Can you pull-up the old data from the wayback machine?

Did it get de-indexed or punished in some way? It sounds a bit "too good to be true". Could their be a trademark issue?

I thought expired domains lost their age as soon as they expired? Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've also been browsing through expired domains lately and have been wondering this.
    Anyways, nice find mate!

In my experience if you purchase through GoDaddy Auctions, the whois record stays the same (maintains its age), but as soon as it's dropped, it resets.

Yeah, okay. I didn't read the thread completely. I have a turkey, green bean casserole, 2 pumpkin pies, mashed potatos, gravy, fruit salad all distracting me, so I blame them.

As I understand it, once a domain name expires, it goes back to the registrar for a period of "redemption", where they can sell it back to the original domain owner for any price they feel like, or they can put it up for auction. At some point, the domain leaves redemption and goes back into the "pool", and that is the time that the domain age is lost forever.

But that's exactly what you are doing. Start your own thread, ask your question there, then post a link here to that thread.

It's not about my sensitivity, it's about your ignorance. Any nitwit could see that having a simultaneous conversation about the dubious value of your under-described domain is going to hijack the thread. You knew it too. Your half-assed apology only underlines your awareness of that fact, and does not excuse it. And also, it's spelled "question", so you can add the inability to spell to your list of deficits.

Calm down Mate, Nigel was just pointing out that you hijacked the thread and it would have been better to start your own.
