Yes, clocking works, but it is still under the radar.
Try bringing traffic to your web page or landing page; there is no issue.
Later, once the post starts getting traffic, you may use a link redirection like Pretty Links, but once again, it's against their terms.
All in all, try to bring all the traffic to your landing page.
The content on the medium should be engaging so that users will click on the link, and your main focus should be milking it until it loses traffic.
