I have been monitoring a keyword for a long time.

until a few days ago, I was #4 no matter where I checked from.

but the last few days, I am #1 if I check from home.
If I go to coffee shops around my house and check, I will be #4 just like usual.

this is not a cookie issue. I have cleared history. I have opened a private window. I have tried different browsers. I have tried different laptops. same result.

I don't have any google products installed on this site. I dont have analytics, I dont have google places, nothing.

I dont get this, what is going on?

I guess you're using a router and it's IP related stuff. Don't worry, just do your things and you'll start seeing your site at #1 even if you check it from coffee shops ;)

It is a machine issue. Check on another computer on another IP or a VPS.

Most likely due to the informatoin cached on your home computer. Google does try to individualise SERPs based on previous websites you have visited in the past.

You could possibly be accessing different data centers from the different locations.

Is it just your website that appears in a different spot in the SERPs, or others appear differently too, depending where you search from?

There is an update mid-way through rollout right now - I'm seeing totally different results by connecting to different data centers.

You've been posting questions for almost a year and you still haven't figured it out yet?

This is how you do it. Log out of your Google Account to get rid of that personalized search results.

    hey man,

I like your approach because it is always so scientific.
others appear differently too. but not too much. so for example the guy who is #6 in one serp is #8 in the other serp and the guy who is #10 is #9

you have been posting here for almost a year and you still don't know clearing history and opening a new private window gets rid of all that?

It is because of you visited your website a lot while logging in your Google account. Try incognito mode of Chrome (Ctrl + Shift + N) to search and see the result

You're seeing different results based on different data centers. Give it a while to resolve itself.

Usually I see updates pushed out within 12-24hrs, but this one has been about 36hrs and counting since I noticed vastly different results depending on which data center I connected to...
Hopefully it actually sticks - it's been good for my rankings :)

You are signed into your Goofle account and your history are effecting the rankings you see.

Sign out of GooFle and you will see you are back at 4.

Couple of possibilities, but what I'd do:

    1) sign out from gmail
    2) clear cache
    3) restart browser
    4) Check your rankings
    5) Check with different browsers
    6) Check through whatsmyserp (they're usually pretty accurate for me)

Your computer is the last thing you should rely upon for serp results, sign up for proranktracker and track 50 keywords for free.

Best response in this thread. If you aren't using a rank tracker, then don't complain when you see different results on different computers.
