    Hi guys,

I have a post, which i have built links to that brings in over 1000 visitors a day.

The post attracts a number of key terms (all very similar) with good search volumes, and i am ranked #1 for 2 terms which have 4000 and 8000 search terms each.

I am wanting to build further posts around this, as there are a number of long term phrases, related to this article, that would bring be a fair bit of traffic, and i could interlink to from my existing post.

As the page that currently ranks is just a post, within a category, how would i best structure my new posts around this area?

Should I add a new category, naming it related to the keyterms im currently ranking for, move the existing post into that category, and then build all future related posts in the same category?

Or is there another way i should go about doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

you can just add new posts in appropriate category to which they belong and interlink from the post where you get traffic based on keywords

Second that. Nothing special you can do. Just add new posts, improve your navigation, in articles links and get the most page views out of your winner.

Ok thanks. Its just the current article is in a very vague category.

    For example

Article "Best Dog Brushes For Poodles"

    Category - Accessories

can't you write a few more posts involving "best dog brushes for lab's/pitbulls/etc" and then link out from there? Surely you will be able to write articles around this one post that relate back to the rest of your site/different categories?

If your using wordpress, get a plugin that links your selected terms. Write posts that contain those words and set them to link to your original post. You can then rinse and repeat this with this with more articles. have a 800 -100 word article then 5 more 500 words article linking to it, all within the 1 site.

    Yea im using WP.

So i shouldn't create a new category? Just add the new posts, and interlink from my current well ranking page to the new posts, and vice versa?

Fill the post with click-bait, stuff that makes people have to click. Keeps them on your site (more opportunity for ads) and reduces your bounce rate (good for SEO).

Don't unwittingly CANNIBALIZE your traffic by writing on the top KWs your post attracts. Look for long tails that your current post attracts which have decent search volume and optimize those with the new content. Link to the new content from your current post.
