What should I get as far as my hostgator stats for this two word search term. Currently only get 200 uniques per month for this search term. I am thinking this is way too low????

Not possible to say anything definitive but in my experience I have lost faith in any keyword tool.... Never found them trustworthy... Always get different results from different tools... Now what I do is mix and match from every keyword tool before I start working on any of the new niche or keyword...

Yeah probably the better way is to mix at least 2 tools. For example I sometimes notice Adwords Keyword tool and Market Samurai give different information - so I just take an average or double check the keyword later.

Google keyword tool isn't accurate either, and it should be illegal for it to give out false info to manipulate marketers.

I'm ranking 2nd position for a keyword that supposedly gets 100,000+ exact searches per month, and I'm only getting 60-100 visitors a day from that keyword, which makes no sense.

well even at 100 hits a day that is 3k per month or a 3%. I get 200 out of 5400 which is about 4% which is not acceptable for #1 ranking that should get 42 percent of clicks or .42 x 5400=2268.

You should install another analytics program too. I like statcounter because you can see it instantly.

Well 200 a month does sound low but as noted the keyword tool is not always accurate. That 40-50% for the number one spot is just a guideline though. It can vary a lot depending on what is going on around your listing. Where is the shopping results? Who are the sites right below you? etc...

Look at the site description that is showing up in Google. Does it match the search term you are ranking for? If you saw it would you feel the need to click on it?

Also if the shopping results are right next to a listing they can suck a lot of the traffic from you. If there is a big well known site right below you that can as well, people will skip your site and go to the well known one even though you rank higher. I have had that kind of thing happen to me a couple of times. Now I actually do a search for the niches I am thinking about targeting to see what actually shows up and it has saved me a lot of wasted time and effort. The numbers do not tell the whole story.
