Times have been (all caps) HARD. I needed to make money to pay the mortgage, 2 month late utilities, you get the point. I went to one of those car title places and walked out with enough cash in hand to take care of everything. When I got the cash from him, I immediately gave him the first payment. He gave it BACK, and explained that I had 6 weeks before they even expect to hear from me/get a payment, and if I needed longer to call. I waited until the 2nd week to make the first payment, and mailed in a check.

Two weeks later I haven't made a payment (thinking I'm only 2 weeks into this 6 weeks grace). Middle of the night, and just like on TV, the repo guy shows up. The next morning I call the Car Title place, and the guy tells me that he personally had no choice, the boss came in and said to repo everything in arrears. His hands were tied. I'm thinking, okay, I understand you have a job to do.

He wants to know why I didn't give up the car, and I tell him I've never had a repo, and I would prefer to drive my car there and drop it off (to maintain some dignity). Before I bring the car to him, I want to know what's next. Do they suddenly "own" my car now? He tells me they will refinance it...no worries, just bring it in.

I take my car in ready to re-finance. After he gets the keys, he explains that the boss is out of town, and his hands are tied, because only the boss can tell him how much they can refinance it for. Then he tells me about the $20 a day storage fee, and the $750 fee the repo guy charged (even though he made one trip and didn't get the car, there was an inconvenience and sitting fee...no joke)

I rode the bus as close to home as I could get, felt like a real loser as I walked home, then came to this site...the one-stop shop for making money right away.

Remembering I recently bought an Associated Content ebook, I tried it out. I earned right away with just one account, writing by myself. Next I joined textbroker as a level 4 writer, knocking out 3-6 articles a day for them. I'm making enough to realize my neighbors could REALLY use this. Neighbors are dropping like flies and there are 4 houses on our block for sale. I re-wrote the book, took out the blackhat stuff, plugged in Textbroker, and showed proof that I am easily making $40-$70 a day on both. I have sold 14 so far @ $87 each with money back if it doesn't work, and we all know it works!

When I started making money, I called the Car Title place DAILY and kept getting the runaround.

Yesterday, Monday, I finally get an answer. They'll refinance $1,000 of the $3,300. The way the guy said it, was like he knew I couldn't get my car back. He also says he is going buy it, so it will be well taken care of. I paid cash when business was better for my Rover, then spent over $5,000 in aftermarket, and it is pristine. I hope he's kidding, but neither one of us is laughing. Additionally, from the day it arrived on their lot I only have 21 days before it's theirs. That gives me 9 days from today.

This morning I showed up with cash in hand, $2,300.00, and the guy SWEARS he said they COULD NOT refinance any amount. I have to step out. I am usually pretty even-tempered and don't upset easily. Usually. Outside, I cry (I mean, gather myself), and do the math on the 10 extra days ($200) of storage fees plus $1,000. I think I should just leave, but I put my sunglasses on, go in and tell him in the famous words of Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back". I start walking to the bus, and the guy comes to give me a ride. I had heels on because I thought I'd be driving. When the guy picks me up, he offers me the $2,300 plus I could exchange sex for the last $1,000...right now...today... he would pay for a MOTEL (seriously, a mo-tel) and I wouldn't have to do anything. I could watch TV.

I've never been THIS MAD before, so I can't even explain it. I am going to make the rest of the money in 9 days. I'm printing now, and will paper a new set of apartments tomorrow and probably stop by some laundromats too.

    Wish me luck.
    Thanks for letting me vent.

Trying to solicit sex for money? Sounds like good blackmail material to get your car back, haha.

Good luck raising the money--you can do it! :)

Get an audio recorder and carry it on you. Confront him over it. If you get him to say something like "there is no way you will be able to prove it--it's your word against mine" along with discussing what he did, then you will have all the evidence you need for anyone to be convinced. Especially if he shows up in court not knowing about the audio tape. Use it as a bargaining-chip or just sue his pig-ass.

    Doubtful...

I only say that because this is probably some tote the note lot. These guys are basically bottom of the barrel types. The people who go to them have no choice but to use them. So there is already bad publicity all over the place about them but people still go.

It sucks to hear the guy keeps giving you the run around. He is a shady piece of garbage pulling one over on you so he can keep your Rover. I hope you succeed in your goal and get your car back.

It sounds like this guy is running this scam by himself (the boss is out of town, his hands are tied, ect, ect.) You need to go back to him and see if you can get him to make the offer for sex again, except this time get it recorded, buy a mini tape recorder (office supply place) of leave you phone on and have someone record on there end. I wish you would have been recording everything since you started dealing with this guy, you would have some ammo by now. You need some leverage, even if you come up with the money, he may just change the rules again. Is he married? Did he have a ring? Threaten to expose him. Tell him if you lose you car, your going to spend the next six months spreading the word around town and online about how he does business.

Do you have any male friends you could turn to? Get the guy to take you to the motel,
have your friends show up, and threaten him while he is naked, take some pictures of him, and take all his clothes and leave with them. Also, have your friends take pictures of you and him going into the hotel room together, take some distance shots so people can tell that it is a hotel.

From what you have written, I would bet that even if you make the money, he will change the rules. You need to find out what the law says he is allowed to do, and do not
deal with this guy with out some way to document what is said. You should not have gone
to his place without someone with you that can be a witness, he is screwing you around because he knows it's your word against his.

Sounds like you should tell him you are consulting a lawyer and the BBB about how it was handled. If they told you you had 6 weeks to pay it back and they repoed the car after two or even 4 weeks that is a breach of contract, and yes verbal contracts do apply. It sounds to me like a scam. You should call and demand to talk to the boss, if he gives you the run around ask for the number at which the boss can be reached. If he wont do that tell him straight out that you are calling the BBB and calling lawyers. Most people will fold at that but if he doesn't, call the lawyers and BBB. A breach of contract is a breach of contract and you can screw their world up if you get the right lawyer. Might want to just go ahead and call the cops too, not 911 obviously because that is an emergency number. Tell them you think you are being scammed by the business and that you want a police officer to accompany you to a meeting, record the meeting! If you can get a lawyer there free of charge you might want to do that too. Too fishy, this thing smells WAY too fishy. I had a similar problem with an auto repair place a while back, they told me they were going to charge me some insane amount of money to replace a sensor. I called a local shop and they said they would do it for half price. I told the first auto shop and they tried to charge me 600 bucks for the two days that the car had been in their shop for "storage". Funny thing is that they didn't know what was wrong until the second day, the day that I said I was going to have it taken to another shop. I called the police and a lawyer that my uncle uses, had both at the shop in less than an hour. Needless to say I paid the cost of diagnosing the problem and that was it. I have also told all of my friends and posted on a few local message boards and sites about their terrible business practices. This all started a few months ago, two weeks ago the manager of the shop called me and told me that it was a mistake that was taken care of on their end and requested that I stop the negative pr campaign. I told him that if he wanted me to stop he should be going through the records of all his customers and making sure he calls them to make sure something similar hasn't happened to them. He told me no and basically to fuck off. I ended the phone call by telling him that I had found someone who had experienced a similar situation a few months before me. The person owned a local company, a billboard company. He had offered to give me the closest billboard to the business as long as I paid to have the add printed. I told him I was thinking about printing my story on the billboard. He sounded shocked that I would do something like that, he was even more shocked when I told him that the billboard was in the parking lot of his business. So the lesson is, if you have bad business practices and piss the wrong person off, they can fuck you a hundred ways from sunday. So get a recorder, either get him to state the offer again for sex or go the legit way with the police. If I were you, I would try to get him offering you sex again, thats an easy way to get him bent over and begging you to take your car off of his hands.

That's really fucked up. If you are trying to get quick cash, and the ebook/article writing thing isn't making enough...post on a JV thread and see if you can do some work for a member here that will pay you before the 9 days is up.

Sucks that douchebags like that guy even walk the earth.

Damn, that sucks. Sounds like they are scamming people left and right. You should go to a lawyer or the police or something. This is bullshit, and the fact that he propositioned you, thats messed up. Sue those fuckers or something.

What he is doing is highly illegal. I advise you to get a lawyer that specializes in this and definitely get some evidence. You might even thinking of contacting your local district attorney. Before you do this or not you do need to get solid evidence though. I would not lose my dignity and respect over something material. It is something you cannot get back. After you are done with them I'd be surprised if they are still in business. Please keep us updated on the situation.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone else what's going on, so it helps to have a place to vent.

First things first, I will make the money and get my car. I scanned and emailed all of the paperwork to a friend of a friend's attorney. His point? It will be really hard/impossible taking them to court to get something back that they legally sold, because I defaulted on a loan (never mind the bogus 6 weeks grace period). If I make a fuss, they will sell the car at auction the first chance they get.

I told the attorney the whole story, how the guy originally offered to lend 3 times more money than I accepted against my car title. It was like he was trying to trap me from the beginning. I only took what I needed, and to the penny, so I'm thankful for that.

I wouldn't be caught dead going into a motel with this guy. My guess is that he does this to have sex, and probably gets it. I didn't notice if he's married. I didn't care.

Luckily, I know something he DOES NOT, and that is that I can come home and make the rest. I've got 9 days. BUT?! What if it had been Day 21 for some poor girl, and she couldn't put together the rest before end of business.

Something bad is going to happen to that guy. Not from me. Seriously, you can't keep doing things like this and never get your comeuppance.

Wow that sucks- I am in Europe but you could have him by the short and curlies for something like that here- it sounds like they are completely doing you over with the car anyway...don't let it drop- for sure at the very least you can get your car back.

Sorry for posting again right away, but if I post on local business forums about him propositioning me for sex and saying that I think they are scammers, won't that eventually cause me problems?

Remember, I didn't record our conversation and the next time I see this guy it's to get my car, no discussion, no trying to record anything. Pay. Pick up. Leave.

I do want to put some negative information out there about them. I couldn't find anything positive or negative on Google, but I don't want to then be sued for defamation (because I have no proof).

    Thoughts?

haha this is where SEO comes in. You've probably heard of Van Chevrolet in dallas right? well they pissed of some guy the guy makes the website www.vanchevroletsucks.com . And if you type in google Van Chevrolet on google thats the first thing that shows up. You can ruin their reputation on the web but highly doubt they would do that. Better solution is contact a local news agency and tell them about your story, they are always looking for something juicy for the front page. Just ask them not to reveal your identity. just a few ideas :)

    Lewisville & Arlington.

Monday when I didn't see my car, he told me it was at their Arlington location. I called, and they wouldn't confirm the car was there, but there is a second location for sure.

    Please don't use them.
