Alibaba is trying to get big in the technology & Cloud space so they are offering a lot of promos these days.
They also have a free trial for cloud services - https://www.alibabacloud.com/campaign/free-trial
Registering a .com domain there seems to be only 3.90$ which is a decent price. I'll register a couple of domains for future projects I am thinking to launch.

It used to be trying to transfer domains out with some of the more backstreet registrars years back.
You'd hope with such a huge brand behind these guys, they'll be legit.

I think some domain name registrars from time to time can provide such kind of solutions and that is actually not really bad.
But that price model will work for the first year only and starting from the second year standard fees will be applied and better get yourself ready for such changes.
