You can use the footprint to harvest sites that you can then find to get backlinks. Most of the time this is done using software and you can use the footprints to find a huge list of sites that you can harvest and then eventually post on to get links.

To add to what Bhopkins said, that will only work for very limited search results that have low competition. Add content regularly, but also incorporate those parasite sites into your link building campaign! Link to those sites heavily and give them a boost!
