agreed - your site is new so it's going to jump around in the rankings after in flux in the backlink discovery process. lay off the backlink building for a week or two, and then ease into the building again. it also helps to get a couple links from some more authoritative websites

checking the backlinks is a good start. in fact, the backlinks to the site are probably more important than the PR. if crap sites are linking to the PR5 site, then it might be fake, but it's still a crap link to buy
