Overall I lost about $500 but then Started getting a profit now that I have some reputation. People are leery about dealing with others on eBay with really low feedback scores. Buy in bulk and you can get as much as 50% off from a supplier.
I just started on eBay and sell a lot of products such as Keurigs for less than half the price you can buy on their website. Right now I'm just selling them at cost from buying them in bulk of 1000 at a time. Once I improve my seller feedback ratio I'm going to up the price by at least 30%.
I've experimented with both methods and found that neither work very well. I would suggest going with the expired content and rewriting it assuming that it is evergreen content. Everybody and their mother has already used and rewritten PLR content.

These days article writing for others pays so little you're better off starting your own website like cjthefish said. Look for an affiliate product you can write at least 20 articles on and even if you use a free website you should make more money from your writing over time.
They like whatever will get them to the top spot for Google searches. However, they are not going to admit it and it's something you shouldn't publicize.
I just read the article and write a new one in my own words with Dragon. I'm very careful not to follow the structure of the original since Google can still consider the duplicate content.
