Although setting a time limit is not really a good idea as it will simply add to your challenges, it is always possible to start earning online as there are quite a few things that can be done. Churn and burn may be the way to go, but it would depend upon your definition of it.
I have had to pay the full price for my renewals, as all of the codes that I tried did not work. It could be that some codes may work for some customers and not for others.
You cannot rely exclusively upon blog comments for ranking, but that would again depend upon what your competition may be doing. Go for contextual links, which should be the way to go.

Keyword research is the main thing here, if your niche already has many other videos, you are not going to be able to rank as quickly. Go for niche that has very little to no competition both on youtube and google, and build as many backlinks as you can.
Guess its not possible for them to see that anyway, too much bending involved and not everyone is too keen. Its like trying to see what your nose looks like without using a mirror.
I love case studies and this one looks quite promising. Will follow it closely and perhaps get to make something out of it. $500 a day is worth doing anything for :)
