I'm a little confused and just want to check what you mean by backlinking citations. So, you create a citation somewhere, say localcitationsite.com then you create Web 2.0s and link directly to the citation page, e:g: localcitationsite.com/mybusiness/ ?

English will still do well, but if the only thing holding you back from targeting the French niche is the domain, then I would buy a new domain and go for French. You can get a good .com domain for a couple of dollars.

If I were you I would target French or Arabic, still popular languages but with A LOT LESS COMPETITION. Focusing on non-English content should make it much easier to rank, even for competitive stuff like shoes/sneakers.

I don’t think black hat would work too well on LinkedIn just because of the type of users it has, I use linked in to outreach with recruiters and possible new jobs, so no room for black hat
