I work as a middleman on a trading platform where youtube channels are occasionally sold and often have temporary access to large channels. I'll try to sub to my 7k channel with some of them and see whether it would actually make any difference.

On my last channel I reached 4k hours much earlier than 1k subs. I waited a good 5-6 months more to get the subs and apply for monetization. My videos are a bit lengthy so that's probably why.

Youtube can definitely terminate channels that have been botted. It has happened to me multiple times. It's different when you have a channel that gets tens of thousands of organic views with some botted traffic on top compared to a small or newly made channel that got 95% of it's watch time...
