Depending on what bot you use you can target the account's followers and have filters so it only follows users that meet your pre-defined criteria. Here is an example from one of my accounts.

UPDATE Started getting a lot of mobile follow blocks but GMT2 wasn't recognizing it and kept "following" had to really lower my limits and attempt to warm this account up better. See below, I have auto increments set up so the follow\like limits increase slowly daily.
