I am experiencing the same as you mate. Getting OOPed (not entirely, but bumped to page 5-10 or so) when I reduce density on two-word combos to < 1.5 % as OP suggests. This example is on a one year old site, on a 1k exact keyword. Do you think the Panda 4.0 update may have affected this?
