Well this is entirely off topic, but the answer is pretty simple. Niche websites were hit by google's algorithmic updates and as a result, the demand dried up. Sure, some niche websites still are profitable and still are viable. But those are few and far between now and no longer financially...

I'm somewhat confused by your sales copy: what are you exactly offering? I get that you are creating web 2.0s, but what is the quality of the article, how many are we getting, are they using unique user ids and so on?
