From what I know boosted posts can still be shown to friends or followers depending on your audience settings I would double check the targeting before launching and exclude audiences where possible so the promotion reaches new people instead of those who already follow you

I would review the quality of those leads because getting lots of messages does not always mean the right audience is being reached
