Astraweb and Binsearch with SSL connections is the most secure way to go, not even your ISP can know what is going on. Plus, I don't think that an ISP will ever throttle as long as you are utilizing SSL connections.
I also second Flurbluff regarding international content.
I don't think I saw anyone mention the use of TOR (The Onion Router) in conjunction with torrents to maintain near guaranteed privacy. The downloads will be significantly slowed, but it will save you from additional cease and desist letters and possible banishment by your ISP.
I am guessing you are referring to hardware media servers. Roku has a good media server and just came out with the 2.0 version. For good software media servers to use with an Xbox 360 or PS3, check out Tversity, Playon, or PS3 Media Server.
