Honestly I find them great for flipping. I usually start 20-30 each month and flip them about 3 months later. I usually sell them in packages (so 3-4 sites) and often at 15+ times revenue.
I've found the same thing. The majority of my Amazon income is made up from people purchasing things unrelated to my sites. I can't complain, money is money.
I think pretty much every single person who sells something on the internet experiences this. I just had a guy order 500 FB likes, then a day later after work was completed said "oh I thought this was 500 backlinks from facebook. I want a refund".

Unless it's a brand new service that no one is offering, why don't you just go and do some research in the Hire subforum? Also look at the Hire's subforums of other IM forums to get a wider picture.
Final year university student here. Quit my part-time job as my IM income was almost double what I was making there. Since quitting I've added about a third more to my income. I will probably never make a full-time living doing this but I expect to be making around 30k per year on the side.
A guaranteed #1-3 spot would cost you a fair bit and would be quite a lengthy process depending on the KW. I'm sure some guys over in the Hire section would be able to help you out.
