I vouch for IntelliJ as well. I've used it for Java, Python, Ruby, PHP and NodeJS. It's great for all of them

Good find! Most of the stuff was quite expected, but others were indeed suprising.

I'd recommend Python or Ruby. Both are great and pretty easy to learn. And also I think there are some open source bots doing what you want. Check around at Github. You can probably find code that you can modify to suit your needs.

Running on my server (not VPS). Tried running as admin, no difference I'm afraid. Strange thing is I haven't changed anything in my setup except for the updates of GSA itself. It has no problem writing other files such as site lists.
