I think you are over spending in those things man. shared hosting can be around $2-$4 a month and works great. For themes and plugins, free ones work great, no need to spend a ton of money on them. I know flashy themes and plugins look great, but really, when you are starting out, free ones...

One of the main problems that I find with this is that sometimes the js and other scripts are complex in order to copy/clone them, but it's fun to try and copy them on your site and see they work lol. I'm also implementing a few scripts of mine in order to customize it to my liking.
