Week 3
Hello everyone,
This week is a bit weaker because I didn't have that much time improving the site. The refactoring of the API is mostly done except bug fixing interfaces and connecting everything again. Next to that I'm fixing bugs that along the way in couple component like the Toast...
If you write 8 hours of concentrated code a day, you won't ever need to do crunches like the 20 hours you mentioned. Also web dev is a "easier" space than let's say game development. Besides after 8-10 hours your brain won't function as efficient anymore, meaning you start to waste your time...
Week 2
Hello everyone,
The site is going well. Currently 2-3 content pieces are uploaded everyday. I managed to implement the format optimization which sped up the site hugely. It's also using alot less bandwidth on the CDN which saves me a good amount. I won't go into marketing yet.
I'm...
With the old site I made like 1-2 dollars per month with affiliate links. I would've made more if I focused more on marketing but I'm a lazy person e.g. I want to automate as much as possible. Doing active marketing, besides getting more traffic, is cumbersome for me. So no, not much money made...
The project is finally in production!
The Alpha is finally released. The initial first hours were a bit hard because alpha testers had trouble uploading content etc. but I got them fixed pretty quickly. Atm everything runs smooth without problems. I will finalize the current features and make...
Final Update (before release)
Ok this is it. I'm finally getting it to production in 2 weeks. I didn't anticipate that much work. I'm sitting at 30-40k lines of code and that's just the beginning.
I have so many ideas I want to implement but before I'm going to waste anymore time working on...
Little update again: I don't think I'm able to make a release in 2 weeks. It's more work than anticipated, I will probably need another 3-4 weeks to get it into production. The main reason is security, I read a book about having solid security in web app and it's quite important for User...
Little update: The site development has been going well. I'm aiming for a release in 2-3 weeks. Right now sitting at 15k lines of code, should get to 20-25 when it's final.
The other site is doing well too, it's sitting at 200 users per day with people coming from everywhere, direct or google...
I'm using JavaScript for both front and backend.
Be careful, writing a website/web app from scratch can be very daunting. You atleast need to learn the langauge and a stack for 2-3 months minimum.
If you however learn the language to change existing code then it's much easier. If for example...
Hey guys, long time no see!
Since I haven't posted anything in almost 3 months, I'll give you a update here.
The Bad news
I kinda abandoned the site in mid december because the manual work was too much. I had to post alot of stuff manually and since I'm very tight on time due to work and rl, I...
This is my review about the service. I will focus on the facts and the experience.
Before getting a link I explained Stan my situation that I'm tight on budget so he offered me a 10% discount code for the next purchase. He was also very friendly and spoke in a clear and professional language...
Depends how many images/videos you serve with your sites for how many concurrent users. I wouldn't mind about port speed unless you get into 5-10k users per day.
+1
I was banned from the biggest subreddits for my niche due to a guy going through every post I made and commenting things like: "Don't go to his website! its a bot spamming every subreddit!", even though I source my stuff and only post quality content + hand comment to ppl
I also had the...
Update:
The notification bot is finished. I've set the probability of showing up to 40% (kinda spammy) but the user has the option to not show the message again once read. I've also fixed some bugs and changed the design a bit.
Traffic wise there hasn't been much change except that my reddit...
Update:
I switched my CDN to bunny and damn it's sooo much faster. I need to optimize some settings because some videos don't fully load or return a 502 but other than that I'm happy. Only concern now is the cost of running the CDN. The site must start to generate income soon.
Apart from that...
Update:
Sorry for the delayed update, I wasn't in town for half a week and also haven't had much time doing feature development. I did however managed to finish the ad campaign (which is running right now) and fixed some SEO issues which google pointed out. The custom video player is 80% done...
Update:
I haven't had much time to get on with the project due to rl. I do however got some stuff done:
- Custom video player half done (needs performance optimization and some more fine tuning)
- content posting daily
The visitors are a bit down since im not spam posting on reddit anymore...
