Scaremongering, not by scientists but by the media. There is no doubt that there is a solar flare coming up (there are now even theories that the sun might be dieing out already, google is your friend) but how this will affect us is anyone's guess.

Just because the hype is over (or maybe it's still going, I have no clue) doesn't of course mean it's dead. But it seems that those cases like Amazon, Facebook, Google, and whatever are kind of over.
