You should do the flush then. If you read my others posts, you will see that there should not be any time lag if you are on Hostgator's own servers for domain registration and hosting.

If he has registered the domain with Hostgator then there shouldn't be a problem with dns propogation as he is using their nameservers - usually it happens instantly but can take an hour or two at most. I use a different host and registrar companies, but at my registrar I have my own nameservers...

Oh I agree with you 100% on that point .. but that's the user base. From a business owners perspective, they may well have been a large bunch of users that they weren't making any or much money from, so the owners could still consider the 'publicity' as free advertising, even if it is negative...

My thoughts exactly. If the site is struggling, nothing like free publicity to give it a boost -- and what better way to get attention than hacking/fraud right after the US election which was dominated by this kind of chatter. On the other hand ... maybe it's genuine ... maybe the Russians did it!
