What I mean is, the pillar page could have a section called something like "deep dive topics", with a list of no-follow links to the sub topic pages.
If that's not going to be enough, I'll see if I can figure a place to have them that won't be messy.
I have a reason to create a topic cluster where all the sub-topics will be pages, not blogs, and cannot be linked to from the main website.
This means the normal way of linking through blog archives is not possible.

That would be the main strategy, but I'm a bit worried about biting off more than I can chew.
