I've not tried, but car rental is covered by the mega travel comparison sites etc... As with all niches, keyword volume and difficulty are key to success. Check the metrics, take a view on your skills vs the difficulty and go for it if think their is a chance.

Who are you hosting with? How did you install WordPress? You might also need to CHOWN to the webserver user if this is a setup that's closer to a bare server than WP optimised, otherwise this type of problem will sneak up all over the place.
