This may have already been asked/answered on this thread but do you have a resource you could point me to in order to learn about this stuff/ what you're doing?

Well, you're going to need some way to drive traffic to your site, whether it be SEO, word of mouth, advertising, social media. But no it doesn't necessarily need to be from google ranks. I can't say for the number of ad clicks as I don't have enough experience in that matter.

I'm no expert, but my advice for him would be to stick with CS and use those skills to save money (DIY development) in creating IM ventures. No reason he can't become experienced in both without switching majors. I say this as a current CS major with interest in IM.

I did the same thing! Other than that I used to buy things from garage sales and sell on eBay but that's not really online.
