If you have scrapebox, you could use it to alive check your links. Or if you have GSA SER, you can upload your links to a project and keep verifying them regularly to see which ones still exist. Both are manual but if you can code something web based, then it would definitely be helpful.

Thats no longer the case provided that your page doesnt spam or stuff unneeded links.

If you are using wordpress, you might want to block tags and archives from indexing too.

Focus on content and build links to important pages. Check which pages start ranking and focus on them more.

Not an issue but if both are indexed, then use one of them by redirecting the other through htaccess
