Competition? If he is curious how somebody is growing an IG page he is more then welcome to ask like he did. If you are afraid of some healthy competition you should maybe look at your own business model. Every market, every niche and every product is having competition, that is called business.

We actually don't, it did took a lot of testing to find the right settings (tags, time, content etc) however a nice DM group would help if the participants are big enough.

If it gets viral the sky is the limit. Max result we had was while having 15k followers on the page and 60k likes 1k comments and 2mil views. We don't use powerlikes but if you would like to use a 1mil + page to boost it will work yes.

Not 100% correct. If it would be a page of an individual person trying to build a new page he or she will need to invest a lot which, in the short term won't give him or her anything but in the long run, If done right it could give the wished results. We never used this method as we don't need it.

First of all, many others mentioned it before - try. Dont only try this but try to be an optimist. It is not only about what you do but also HOW you do it. When you start of with a mindset like yours you will not get there. Be positive, read, try, fail,do it again, succeed.
