I am no expert either however I started off by reading, learning, making notes. Practiced by creating pages, doing on-page, off-page SEO and started tracking the rankings go up down.

Before you start doing any sort of promotion you should ideally let the account age at least for a month or two and keep randomly posting stuff on your profile. Also, once you start promoting after the initial 1-2 month warm up, go easy on the promotions to avoid any red flags going up.

BHW works great the way it is. Personally, I don't feel there's a need for an app.

Could be due to your account being misused that violated their terms and conditions. Try to remember and see if you did anything recently on FB or used your accounts with any bots or anything that could have caused your account being disabled.
