Plus I'm not sure it's so much that people want to live in something that's not real. It's more that they have become detached from a 'reality' they no longer believe in. Their hobbies and interests are what is real to them.

With the rapid ascent of AI, its fake images and footage, you could argue that increasingly people won't even know what is or isn't real anymore, so I can well understand people somewhat retreating into a world or hobbies of their own choosing. It's part of the whole 'dead internet theory'...

I wouldn't say personally using it for traffic, but I have noticed that mentions on reddit have driven traffic to my web properties. That and the mentions have occasionally led to links appears elsewhere, so a snowball effect of sorts.

Sounds like a fair split. Often in restaurants and the like i'm specifically asked if i'm give them a review on Google, so it basically speaks to the importance and their influence compared to other platforms.

How about, say, for a website that's actually about a town, rather than a specific business within a town? Do you think in that situation there could be a case for making a product of costs (say a town guide), for the same of creating a Business Profile off the back of that?

i'd say that to an extent this can work, much in the same way that updates to websites can give them an engagement or seo boost. Fresh content holds a certain amount of sway, especially if the pre-existing content is already popular.

I've always paid for content and have a regular content writer (who i feel somewhat obliged to provide work for), though I have experimented with using AI then running it through superhumanizer. Results were a bit mixed as i still have to edit a fair bit as some of what was churned out didn't...

I've definitely found that DR, DA etc don't provide a full picture, which some of my sites with lesser metrics on the surface doing better than the public view of them suggests.
