I think Google has become much stricter about overall site quality Sites with helpful content a clean backlink profile and a good user experience seem to be holding up better than those relying on shortcuts.
the value comes from the quality of the page its relevance and whether it gets real traffic not simply because its on a .edu domain. A strong relevant .edu page can help but the extension alone isn't a ranking advantage.
I usually review the top search results before writing to understand what users expect Matching search intent has consistently given me better results than choosing keywords based only on search volume.
choose a relevant Do-Follow backlink even from a lower authority site if it's genuine and fits the niche Relevance and natural placement usually matter more than authority alone.
I'd generally view relevant editorial links from established legitimate websites as the lower risk investment I haven't seen reliable real world data on loss rates so I'd rather prioritize strategies that build lasting authority than chase short term ranking gains.
I think topical authority has become much more important but I wouldnt say it has replaced backlinks Comprehensive topic coverage strong internal linking and high quality content create a solid foundation while relevant backlinks still help build authority.
From what I’ve seen strong brand searches definitely help trust signals but they work best alongside backlinks and good content If branded searches jump from 10 to 500+ you’ll usually notice better stability and easier rankings over time not an instant boost.
