Personally, I removed a lot of non-helpful content on one of my sites and the site recovered from May's core update. Content pruning of non-useful content helps a lot IMO

The update started on Aug.25 and will take 2 weeks to complete. My sites are unaffected so far but we need to wait a little more.

Good luck on your journey. I've been doing this for many years now (with a portfolio of 3 sites). Affiliate articles do not work as well after the product update. Revenue from ads is a good model. Try to get into Mediavine and Adthrive asap
