Thanks for sharing. But what is meant by "pattern"? To me it would make more sense to just de-rank sites instead of keeping results alive that qualifiying to their algo as spam (not to me though :-) ) - Why rank Spam when you qualify it as spam and instead reduce crawling? Any logic in this?

Anyone with the phenomenon that crawling requests on a daily basis sharply decreased? I.e. a small sie of 300 articles had 70 crawling requests per day on average and is now down to 5 per day since around October 20. Traffic and Rankings have not been affected. Yeah, it is just re-evaluated. It is how we see these sites now :D

I don´t think it is a penalty. And "how we see the site now" is also BS. The site of ours that got hit has 2 other languages versions on different domains, HRFELang connected and for the user via a country picker. Those other two domains are doing the opposite = Sitemap gets crawled, mobile...

It is not Anchor text as mentioned above, at least not off page anchors since the only site that got hit for us was brand new (5 months old) and had just 3 links targeting the brand name of the site that is not a commercial acnhor. 2/3 of ranks are gone but on a daily basis some jump into 30-60...

I can´t see any pattern. 1 of 50 sites got hit on monday, CET. But only one of the newest, just 5 months old. Some ranks stayed, some disappeared (90% of rankings gone, 10% still alive, untouched). Some ranks disappeared in keyword niches where it was the only "real " content (500 pages)...
