There's no silver bullet to this one, but if it helps maybe try to think about getting customers instead of traffic. Traffic per se isn't the goal, it's users and there's a logical way to get the ball rolling on that front.

You know Web 2.0 isn't real? If you want good backlinks to point to your site you need to create amazing content, promote it like you have already been doing, then find journalists-bloggers-webmasters-anyone who regularly writes about your topic and email them a short pitch.
