Will self-created backlinks (from twitter, pinterest etc) have any affect on search result ranking?
I have a post that is pretty close to being on the front page of the search results for my keyword (low competition) I've done most of the typical SEO optimizations and created some additional related content. I'm just looking for something else I can do to push the ranking up a little higher...- hamartia

Is it important that I find my particular niche right away?
Or can I start creating content on a more general subject matter (example: perfumes) and then find my niche by paying attention to which blog posts are doing well? (for example, moving my focus from perfumes to "cruelty-free fragrances", or "colognes for puas" etc) Sorry for the noob question.- hamartia
