You can actually do that, I used to do it with Facebook groups.
If the sub reddit allows you to post and they don't automatically delete it. You can bump your posts with the use of upvotes. I did this way back in 2017/2018/2019. It works, unless there's been a change with how reddit ranks stuff.

Most people who are good at it, do both. Rendering services earns you more money if you have many clients but with many clients you would need assistance (i.e less money to you).

Yes backlinks are still very relevant and have proven they can be the difference between your sites success and failures.
With strategies I'd recommend you acquire backlinks from sites with traffic or have proven results. While for PBNs, quality homepage PBNs work great.
For some sites I spend $500 per month on others more.
My backlinks acquisition strategy heavily relies on spending less and on only valuable sites that are worth it.
Aren't the keywords too difficult for your website? Also how optimized are they?
