I think due to the Covid 19 shutdowns at certain countries people are into voice chats and video chats already, caused by home office jobs. So Clubhouse is just another step in the evolution.

My guess is that they have some pending updates to be deployed or old code to be rolled back.
What about this? Install the Android IDE "Android Studio", connect an Android device of your choice by USB to your machine, start the TikTok app and watch the entries in the logcat. You'll be very surprised.
