Is your site ranked for those long tail keywords? I mean, there are direct ways to funnel traffic to a site like using scrapebox.. But that will just give you dirty traffic.
But, if your site IS ranked within the top 3 spot with those longtails.. What I would suggest is keep adding fresh...
I'm a fan of Micro Niche Finder as a base program. I use that, + some scrapebox and Traffic Travis to get basically everything i need to know about niches and competition accurately and fairly quickly.
I remember reading somewhere that it is against the T.O.S. for the HostGator shared servers (like mine). But if you are paying for anything other than a shared server with HostGator you are ok.

Yup, it still works. Like mentioned above the link juice they provide has dwindled significantly lately.. But the key is to use a program like ScrapeBox and find a high PR blog that is ******** and has a low number of outbound links. Relevance to your site is also a big factor as well...
Depends.. It's my understanding if you host them you get credit for the ads being shown on them even if another site is imbedding them through you. Otherwise there is really no difference imho. I would look at your web host's T.O.S. and see if it's against their rules to host 'em..
