Running Google Ads, How Do You Keep Campaign Costs Under Control?

also separate campaigns by intent so the budget isn’t being spent on searches that are unlikely to convert. Cheap clicks don’t mean much if they bring the wrong traffic.

i don't really love google ads because i have a problem like you, if you guys have a solution for that guys please for me know too
So what is the problem you are having with your Google Ads account? Is it about getting your account suspended or having high cost per click?

From the advertiser side in home services, where clicks aren't cheap either: one cost nobody puts in the campaign report is the calls you pay for and never answer. Invoca puts unanswered calls to home-service businesses at 27%. If that's you, every answered lead costs about 37% more than the dashboard says.

Two fixes that cost nothing:

- Run ads only during hours someone can actually pick up, or make sure something answers when nobody can.
- Track calls all the way through: click, answered call, booked job. A cheaper click that never gets answered isn't cheaper.

Before launch, I upload a massive, pre-built negative keyword list. I immediately exclude terms like "free", "jobs", "salary", "scam", "customer service", and known competitor brand names. This alone saves 20–30% of wasted spend in the first week.

Yeah, these niches can burn through your budget pretty fast. I'd say testing is key. No point spending big on keywords that bring clicks but don't actually convert. I've seen that happen way too often.
