Something I’ve been thinking about lately:

Recently, AI is becoming more capable of learning, adapting, and handling complex tasks on its own, where do we draw the line between “AI is getting smarter” and “AI is becoming dangerous”?

I recently came across claims about Gemini being involved in hacking multiple accounts, and it made me to think.

On one hand, this kind of capability is pretty impressive. An AI that can understand a problem, adapt to what it finds, and complete complicated tasks effectively in short time.

But on the other hand, if an AI can use those same abilities for things we didn't ask it to do, that's a completely different situation. As everything is online now, nothing is safe in this world.

Do you guys see increasingly autonomous AI as the next major step in technology, or do you think we're getting a little too comfortable giving AI more control?

Curious what everyone here thinks — advancement or warning sign?

Both imo. More autonomy makes AI much more useful but I wouldnt give it access to important accounts or systems without clear limits and human approval.

give an agent only the access you'd give a new intern, keep a human approval step before anything irreversible

One thing i'd appreciate about Ai. It'd probably take of a lot of human problems, without emotion, beyond conflict, that have plagued history.

People who shouldn't be in power or influential, would likely no longer be. Human behaviors would likely be more normalized vs weaponzied. etc.

Hacking isn't an issue

Its all marketing stunts

They are running an AB / non regulated AI version internally and then say this

They never give us AB / Non regulated AI to us

So don't worry we are good.

Thats why Openweights are so far behind

Claude leaked few days ago 11T parameters
SOTA Openweight: Kimi at 2.8T parameters

By the time that openweights gets caught up, every true SOTA model will already patch the bugs / security risks

I think it's both progress and a risk. AI agents can save a lot of time by handling complex tasks independently, but giving them access to personal accounts and sensitive data is another story. Human supervision should always remain part of the process.

Maybe those horror movies are about to become realities.

AI in wrong hands can be dangerous. However, I think people will rise against it when it becomes a real threat, and it will be regulated.

Howbeit, AI becoming autonomous is real, and poses threat.

I think so too, ...

I am not really into conspiracy theories or anything like this, but i can also clearly see that thies ends really bad....

I've been using AI a lot more for coding and research lately. It saves time, but the work still needs direction. I usually switch models depending on the task, then I check the logic and test the result in the browser or through the API. Code can look right but still behave differently once it's running. I'm fine with agents handling bounded tasks, but I wouldn't let one make changes to a live customer or payment flow without a human check.
