Is Google Slowly Killing Small Blogs in 2026?

No, Google isn’t killing small blogs, it’s killing generic ones.
Small sites still win if they’re hyper-focused, experience-based, and build real topical authority instead of pumping out AI fluff.

With AI Overviews, Reddit-style results, and big brands dominating page one, are small and niche blogs still worth starting in 2026? What’s actually working right now for new bloggers: topical authority, personal experience, community traffic, or something else? Curious to hear what others are seeing in real results, not theory.

i feel that small bloggers should get a little more creattive when it comes to traffic.it is good to have rankings but it is much better to get linked from niche forums or to have ur posts shared by ur readers bcz u will get people who are actually interested in what u are talking about.

Small blogs can still do well if they focus on one topic. Competing with big sites for every keyword is tough.

Small blogs still work, focus on niche expertise, real experience, and community traffic beyond Google.

I still think small niche blogs are worth starting in 2026, but the strategy needs to be different from what worked a few years ago.
Trying to compete with big authority websites on broad keywords is probably not the best approach for a new blog.

Google did not kill the small blog sites small blog sites are still valuable in 2026 if google start killing small blog site no one should build a new site.

If you’re able to provide niche content then i think you will find an audience on a small blog personal experiences and specific niches really help focus on creating content that will gain your readers trust dont focus on having lots of articles for keyword targeting

Judging by current Google SEO and GEO rankings, small forums are no longer receiving any fresh traffic at all.

Google’s AI-generated answers are having a major impact on large websites, not just small ones. Most users no longer need to visit websites to find the information they’re looking for.
