I've been seeing some volatility since October 27. Some of my websites have dropped, while others have jumped higher, so it's been a mixed bag.

What caught my attention was the mixed feedback from other site owners. Some were reporting better keyword positions without seeing more traffic, while others were talking about weaker traffic or conversions. A ranking jump looks good, but I'd want to see whether it brings any useful clicks before calling it a win.

Anyone else seeing similar movement across their sites?

I've noticed that ranking changes don't always show up in traffic straight away. Sometimes positions improve but clicks stay almost the same. I'd compare Search Console data over the next few days before deciding whether the movement is actually helping.

positions up but clicks flat is pretty much what i'd expect on queries that have an AI overview on top now. going from 6 to 4 under a big AI box doesn't change much. i'd check which queries actually moved before calling it a win or a loss

Yes, it looks like some unconfirmed Google algorithm updates are rolling out, given the significant fluctuations we're seeing in search rankings. There are also some indications that Google may be preparing another major update in November/December, although nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

  • Spot on. Moving from page 3 to page 2 barely brings any clicks, but the impression growth in Search Console shows Google is testing the URL. Real traffic usually kicks in once you break into the top 5

I haven’t seen any changes in my blog yet. Its rankings have remained stable, with neither improvements nor declines.

Yes, I have observed such variations too. Rankings by themselves do not give the complete picture.

I always like to analyze organic traffic, impressions, CTR, and conversions.

At times, the keyword may rise in rank, but if there is no improvement in search intent or CTR, then its business value is insignificant.
