When Ad Results Drop, Do You Change the Image or the Copy First?

I check the CTR first. If it is dropping, the creative may not be catching people's attention anymore.

Any recent change in audience size? A smaller audience can make results drop even when the ad stays the same.

Sometimes an ad starts getting fewer results, and I am not sure what to change first. Should I try a new image or video, or change the ad text and headline?
changing everything at once makes it hard to know what helped.
what you guys usually change first when an ad starts doing poorly?
Spot on. The rising costs on Meta are mostly driven by how fragile the overall setup is right now. When your payment cards keep getting flagged or accounts get restricted, it kills the ROI before you even scale.

When it comes to testing changes, it’s really inefficient to tweak multiple elements at once. If you change everything simultaneously, you’ll never know which specific change actually drove the result (whether positive or negative). It's always better to test step-by-step, or use native A/B testing features available right inside Meta's ad manager to get a clean, objective comparison. It definitely saves a lot of budget in the long run.

Images are quicker for me to test and evaluate, though a well-produced video can do better sometimes. If clicks are holding but conversions are down, I check the landing page and traffic before changing the creative.
