Hi everyone,

I run a free online tool that lets users download videos from Erome. The site was growing really well for a while. According to Google Search Console I even hit 893,000 impressions and 18,000 clicks in a single day.

Then, around mid-October, the traffic completely collapsed overnight. Looking at the Search Console graphs it looks like the site was almost completely removed from Google’s index (I’ve attached a screenshot).

Important details:

  • I didn’t change anything on the site
  • No SEO changes, no content updates, no technical modifications
  • The site is exactly the same as it was when it was performing well
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Any ideas what could cause such a sudden and extreme drop?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

This looks more like a site-wide visibility issue than a normal traffic fluctuation.

One thing worth investigating is the timing. Google's September 2026 Spam Update finished rolling out on October 8, shortly before your reported traffic collapse.

I will first compare the Page Indexing report before and after the drop. Also check whether your pages are still indexed but have lost their rankings.

Since this is an adult video downloader, I would additionally investigate SafeSearch visibility, content quality, and potential spam or copyright-related issues.

Don't make major changes until you identify whether Google has actually deindexed the pages or simply stopped ranking them.

ngl downloader sites eat dmca complaints all the time. i'd search the domain on lumen database first, if there's a pile of notices from mid october that's probably your answer

That’s a pretty drastic drop. Looking at the graph, both clicks and impressions collapsed almost overnight around October 14, which suggests a possible sitewide visibility issue.

You can check manual actions, security issues and page indexing in GSC to confirm whether the pages were actually deindexed. If indexing is intact, investigate a possible algorithmic or spam related ranking impact.

To start off, let me investigate the problem which may have come up as a result of any manual action or security-related problems on GSC. Then, I will look into the indexing reports before and after the drop. this can include the possibility that your page are indexed but not visible anymore. this does not imply that your problem is full de-indexing. since this is a video download website, I will also check for any DMCA or SafeSearch problems.

Hi everyone,

While millions of young men around the world appreciate heroes like you, I'm pretty sure G doesn't :p

Obvious manual action there and it was probably snitched by one of your competitors who are doing the same

my first step will be to make sure that there are no manual or security problems in GSC. It is necesary to check if the page are indexed or if they have been removed from indexing. as it is a downloaders site, I would also check for DMCA complaint or safesearch issue. It may have something to do with the google update, but I would check out all other possibilities as well.

It's probably a manual action against your website.

Since Friday, Google has been rolling out a new anti-spam algorithm targeting file-sharing and video-hosting sites, as well as platforms that rely on user-generated content.
Google has updated its documentation to recommend that site owners block low-quality user-generated content—including file and video uploads—from being indexed.
If a site is affected by this algorithm, excluding the relevant sections containing such content from the index can quickly help the site regain its rankings.

From my perspective, I think A sudden drop like that can happen for different reasons, so I wouldn't assume the site is deindexed right away.

I'd check the URL inspection tool, manual actions, and indexing reports in GSC first. Also compare impressions with clicks to see whether it's an actual visibility issue or just a tracking fluctuation.

Seeing that graph I felt a sharp pain in my left nut....I feel your pain OP....that 📉 is the biggest nightmare of IM game....that is a 100% penalty if your website is functional.

same problem here, 1 year domain age.

Google is irrelevant nowadays, they send traffic and then the traffic disappears.
It's impossible to know why the traffic disappeared, the console has nothing.

They’re garbage—meanwhile, millions of useless websites end up at the top. As for ours, which is extremely useful to people, they constantly sabotage it.

Yes, unfortunately. Being honest comes at a high price in this online world.

compare the Search Console indexing report before and after the drop then check the Manual Actions and Security Issues sections. Also check if the affected URLs are still indexed with a site: search and whether Google is reporting crawl or indexing errors.

they will stay at the top as they dont buy bhw backlinks

Given that this is a video ripping site , I'd definitely check for copyright removal requests and policy issues , but I wouldn't assume those are the cause just from the traffic graph. I'd start with Manual Actions, Page Indexing and Security Issues , then compare the queries , positions and indexed page count before and after the collapse. If pages are still indexed but rankings disappeared , that's a different problem from the site actually being removed from Google's index , copyright removals can affect individual URLs or groups of URLs without the whole domain being deindexed
