What’s one backlink mistake you would never repeat?

One mistake was buying links too quickly. now I take time to compare a few sites first.

When building or buying backlinks, what’s one mistake you learned from?

Maybe the link disappeared, the website turned out to be poor quality, or you overpaid.

What happened, and what do you check now to avoid that mistake?
imo overlooking a websites outbound link quality and indexing history. Now I always check both, along with niche relevance and organic traffic, before choosing a placement.

Paying was a problem for me because when I started I didn't have a lot of money.

one mistake is not checking whether the page is indexed. now I verify indexing and traffic before investing

no more advance payments for bulks guest posts due to discovery of older links either changed or deleted without my knowledge so now i checkedd the links from a sites recent posts first
Checking older placements is a good point. Recent posts won't show whether links stay live over time. I'd also get the replacement terms in writing and save the live URLs, so there's a clear record if anything changes later.

My biggest mistake was focusing on DA instead of relevance and actual website traffic. Now I check niche relevance, organic traffic, and link placement before investing in any backlink.
