Hey,

Just curious what type of site you run (informational, e-commerce, SaaS, affiliate, transactional, etc.) and your thoughts, preparations and strategy for a potential AI mode as the default search engine for Google?

I do use a few websites, but I never rely entirely on AI; I only use it to support my work.

I think informational and e-commerce sites will both need to adapt. People may get answers directly from AI instead of clicking through, so I'd focus more on content that actually helps, original insights and giving visitors a reason to choose the site rather than just chasing Google rankings.

i run mostly informational stuff lol, so ai mode is the scary one for me. i'm leaning harder into stuff ai can't just summarize, like real experience and original data

I mostly work with informational and affiliate sites. My focus is on publishing useful content, building topical authority, and keeping the basic SEO fundamentals strong. With AI search becoming more popular, I believe creating content that genuinely helps users will matter more than just targeting keywords and chasing rankings.

For transactional sites, tracking conversions will matter more than traffic alone. AI search might reduce informational clicks, but visitors who still reach product or service pages could have stronger purchase intent. Comparing conversion rates by traffic source would help show whether AI search is actually hurting the business.

Mostly small e-commerce and local business sites. For e-commerce the prep is boring but it works: clean product data, real photos, shipping and return info that is easy to find, and structured data so the AI answer can pull price and stock correctly. Local sites I treat more like a Google Business Profile job, reviews and accurate hours matter more than blog posts there.
