Hi everyone
I uploaded a video to TikTok and surprisingly received a lot of views but no likes.
Why is that? Surely everyone should get at least one like, right?

Views don't always mean people are interested enough to like. Check if viewers are leaving in the first few seconds, and try a stronger opening that gives them a reason to keep watching.

Not necessarily. TT can push a vid to people who aren’t interested in the topic so views don’t always mean getting likes. Some people watch for a few secs and scroll past without interacting.

how many views is alot of views for you? what does your average video do ? are you getting any comments ? if you are using hashtags on your video description, are you able to see your video in the hashtag search from a different account?

basically, a "view" on TIktok triggers the second the clip starts autoplaying on someone's FYP dude. if u got views but 0 likes, I think people are either swiping away within 1 second cause ur hook is weak, or those views came from Tiktok's internal scraper bots indexing your video. u can try again and make sure add a strong visual hook in the first 2 seconds and clear Call TO Action to prompt real users to engage

No likes on views generally implies very high swipe through rate retention but no emotional connection. Or may be your video is under bot testing for FYP push. please provide us with the link or the type of content so that we can finds out why there are no likes.

As you suggested, the retention rate in the first 3 seconds drops drastically, with most viewers scrolling past extremely quickly.

Sometimes, the audience reached by your video does not align with the actual customers who end up watching it.
If a video reaches the wrong audience, why would they still click to watch it?

Not necessarily. TT can push a vid to people who aren’t interested in the topic so views don’t always mean getting likes. Some people watch for a few secs and scroll past without interacting.
That sounds reasonable, but it seems a bit illogical that views are increasing without a single like.

Even the worst videos usually get a small number of likes. Could the view count system be malfunctioning, or is my video being targeted?

I used a familiar hashtag. When I tried searching with that hashtag on my secondary account, the video still appeared in the list.

Simply put, the content isn't interesting. Liking something is just an expression of emotion, they only scroll past for views and stay for 1 or 2 seconds.

people dont really click anything on tiktok they just scroll. the app counts a view the second the video starts even if someone swipes away right after, so people just scrolled past

A video with high view counts doesn't necessarily mean high likes and engagement. View counts are measured by the number of people who stay on your video for more than 3 seconds. If your video is recommended frequently, people will stay longer, increasing the chances of it getting likes.

You mentioned that most viewers leave within the first three seconds. I'd try a new opening on your next video, keeping the topic and format similar, then compare retention and likes. That would give you something to test rather than guessing about bots or a broken view counter. Could you share a screenshot of the analytics with personal details hidden, including the view count and traffic sources?

I think it's because people watch the video out of curiosity, but that doesn't necessarily mean they like it enough to leave a like. Sometimes the algorithm shows videos to a lot of people who just scroll past without interacting. Don't worry, it happens!

The video isn't engaging enough; try creating one that sparks curiosity in the viewers.

Could you give me an estimate of the number of views? It’s hard to gauge based on a vague term like "a lot."

If we’re talking about hundreds of thousands of views, the situation is indeed strange, but if it’s up to ten thousand views, that could be realistic, depending on the content topic.

getting likes from upload TikTok videos need adding good caption and trend hashtags to reachout on many app users for engagement, although it need making of quality detail graphic video that can interest many viewers to like and comment.

Maybe your content quality isn't very good.
