Do niche-relevant backlinks work better than high-DR backlinks?

Yeah I’d look at the article itself too, not just the site’s niche. I wouldn’t turn down a link from a general news site if the article actually fits my topic. I’d rather have that than a site in my niche where every article is clearly just there to sell a link.

Yes, the actual relevance of the article itself carries more weight for me than just the niche of the site. A relevant news article link is worth more than a niche site with obvious paid links.

the part I'd add is placement. a relevant site with real traffic still does way less if the link sits in a footer or sidebar than in an actual paragraph.

Yes, the contextual positioning does matter. It is obvious that the same link would be more helpful for the users and carry more SEO worth than a footer or a sidebar link site-wide.

Absolutely agree. Niche relevance and real organic traffic should come first. DR is useful as a reference, but link quality and relevance matter more than the metric alone.

Totally agree. I've seen people focus too much on DR and forget to check the actual website. Relevance and real traffic are just as important, and a high DR alone doesn't guarantee a good backlink.

Yes, I've seen many high DR websites which have very little or many unrelated outbound links. I would prefer to see the web pages receiving organic traffic and how well the link fits within the content.

You can check the actual page, its organic traffic, topical relevance, and outbound link profile before deciding. A relevant link from a page that gets real traffic can be more useful than a high DR link from an unrelated site. Also, the best results usually come from a balanced link profile always.

Yes, I have come acrross that before too. It would be wise to look into traffic history as well as whether the website actually has any ranking pages. Some sites have high DR but low SEO value.

A link from a small blog in the same industry can bring visitors who are actually interested in your topic.

Absolutely agree!

I've seen niche relevance and genuine organic traffic deliver more value than chasing high DR numbers alone.

A natural, contextually relevant backlink from a trusted website can build stronger authority and long term SEO impact.

Indeed, relevance may be sometimes more important than the numbers. A blog with a smaller audience may provide better referral traffic than a large generic website.

I think niche relevance matters more than DR alone. A backlink from a relevant website with real organic traffic can be more valuable than a high-DR link from an unrelated site. Ideally, look for a balance of relevance, authority, traffic, and link quality.

Yep, relevance matters more than DR alone. Relevant site with genuine organic traffic usually better choice than high-DR site with no niche connection or real traffic.

both matter, but I’d never choose a backlink based on DR alone. relevance, link quality, and traffic should be considered together
