What’s a fair price for a quality niche edit that delivers real SEO value?

Ask for the URL before paying. A strong domain can still have weak pages that get almost no search traffic.
Of course! Before making payment, always look at the page itself, the organic traffic on the page, how relevant the page is, and the outgoing links on that page.

Just because a domain has authority does not mean that the link is worthwhile to you.

I agree that DR alone shouldn't decide the price. I’d also check whether the page is indexed, gets consistent organic traffic, and has relevant content with a clean outbound link profile. A niche edit on a page that already ranks for relevant terms can provide more value The price should reflect the quality of the actual page, not just the domain metrics.

I dont mind paying extra for a good page. What matters is whether the article gets traffic and the link actually fits there

For a genuine niche edit. I wouldn't use a fixed $150 to $300 rule because prices vary a lot by niche , GEO and the actual quality of the page. I'd rather pay more for a relevant page that already ranks for related terms , has real organic visibility and a reasonable outbound link profile than get a cheap placement on a page with no search visibility. The price should really depend on how valuable and hard to get that placement is , not just the site's DR or DA

Sure. It is the page quality, relevance, organic reach, and link profiles that really do count rather than the price or the DR.

A backlink is an asset which needs to be valued according to what it brings in.

Absolutely! I would rather opt to pay more money for that particular website since the relevance and organic traffic on the site matter much more compared to simply choosing the placement based on DR.

From what I've been learning, a backlink should have some real value beyond just improving SEO metrics. I'd probably look at the website's niche, page traffic, and whether the link fits naturally into the content.

Is there anything else beginners should check before paying?

i think from the points overall the question if the website is relevant if google didnt exist as mentioned by on of the users has to be important

Pricing in my opinion must be determined by how much organic traffic, relevance, quality of page and outgoing links it really has, and not DR or DA.

I would prefer to spend more money for a relevant and traffic generating page, rather than buying a no real link.
I would see if the actual page was being crawled and updated before paying. some companies even make u pay extra for placement in a page Google ignores anyway.
